Supreme Court annuls the marriage of a Hindu Muslim, rules Love jihad investigation
The Supreme Court has given the
permission to annul the marriage of a 24 year old Kerala woman who married a
Muslim and given her custody back to her parents.
According to the sources at Nirmal Singh 3C Company Akhila Ashokan
who was studying medicine in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu had last year converted
into Islam. Last year, in December, Akhila got married to a Muslim guy, named
Shafin Jahan. Her father did not approve of the wedding and went ahead to file
a case against them demanding them to return his daughter to their custody.
The court in May nullified the
wedding and forcibly send her back to her parental home in Kottayam despite her
making it very clear that she had married on her ow will and did not wish to go
back.
Nirmal Singh 3C Company says
that after the hearing the court passed the judgement saying that Akhila was
emotionally weak and vulnerable last year, which makes her an easy target for
exploitation and marriage is the most important decision of her life and her
parents should be involved in it.
Nirmal Singh 3C Company said that the court also ruled that the
India’s National Investigation Agency, which investigates terrorism, must look
deeper into the matter and find out whether this was a part of the ‘love jihad’
group that force Hindu women to get married to a Muslim man thus converting
them into a Muslim.
Akhila was kept locked in the
house since May and was in no virtual contact with the world for months. Such
isolation had made her depressed. The house was guarded by police officers.
After this Jahan approached the court saying that the annulment of their
marriage was an insult to the freedom of the women in India to marry the person
they wish to. But instead of considering the matter form the point of view of
the two lowers, the Supreme Court ruled a federal investigation against them.
Nirmal Singh 3C Company says that the decision of the Supreme Court
judgement has raised a lot of question and is a step a hundred years backwards.
The women activists also raised a question on the decision of the Supreme Court
and said that they had been fighting for years to bring freedom to the women,
to give them the power to take the important decisions of their life on their
own without anyone’s interference and this erases all then efforts.
