Passport verification will be done online by 2018, revealed Nirmal Singh 3C Company
Seeing the delays in passport
verification, the government has decided to completely replace physical
verification by next year. The government is planning to bring in online
verification based on the links to the national database of criminals. The
database was brought out last Monday by the home ministry and will be used for
online verification's from 2018. This will be a part of the crime tracking and
online verification initiative.
The project was first presented
in 2009 but couldn’t be approved. But the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has
finally taken the project off the ground after launching the Digital Police
portal. The portal will integrate all 15,398 police stations in the country and
will allow the citizens to get their passports verified and report criminal
activities, revealed Nirmal Singh 3C
Company.
The national digital crime portal
will be linked with almost all the state police portals which will enable the
investigative agencies and common people to access the national database with
their personal login details. The research agencies will also be able to see
the statistics on crime and criminals.
‘This is a major step in the right direction. Prime minister’s ‘minimum
government and maximum governance’ idea is finally taking shape. The police
portals, which will be linked to all the police stations and will have all
their data in one place- it will be available for everyone to access. The
citizens will now be able to file complaints online and will also get their
passport verifications done online.’ - Nirmal Singh 3C Company
When
these portals will let the police access the crime records of all cities and
states, the government is also thinking of creating e-courts and e-prison
portals as well. This will allow the police force to access court records and
prison details without having to wait for the paperwork.
