Ram Jaithmalani is arguably the best and most respected defense lawyer in the country. After influencing the legal system for good for no less than seven decades, he recently announced his retirement on 8th of September during the felicitation of the new Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra. The function was organized by the Apex Bar Body, the Bar Council of India.

1. He was born in a small town of Shikarpur in 1923. As a bright student in school, he got promoted thrice and jumped classes – as a result, he completed his schooling years before any of his classmates.

2. At the age of just 17, he got his law degree and decided to pursue the career in Karachi until the Independence. His father was against him studying law and making a career out of it at that tender age but despite that, he kept working as a lawyer. - Nirmal Singh 3C Company

3. As the rules didn’t allow such a young lawyer to practice [you had to be 21 or above to practice law] in India, he persuaded the Chief Justice of Sind to make the rules a bit more flexible and allow him to practice.

4. Ram Jaithmalani served as the Minister of Urban Development when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister. He was also the Law Minister of India during that same time. Later on in his career, he contested the general elections [2004] against Vajpayee from Lucknow.

5. The metal of his legal prowess has always been justified by the cases he has taken over and the cases he has won. He was the one who defended the killers of Indira Gandhi and scammers of Dalal Street, Ketan Parekh and Harshad Mehta. - Nirmal Singh 3C Company
